The venue chosen for the symposium in 2016 was the Hard Day’s Night Hotel located in the centre of this historic city and inspired by the success of the Beatles. It proved to be a successful choice, both because of the excellent facilities and support, and because it was located within five minutes’ walk of Liverpool 1, a recently developed shopping area by the river, or at the Museum and Art Gallery complex. And in the centre of the Beatles’ history, of course.
More importantly, the scientific content of the symposium was very strong, with three invited speakers, 20 oral presentations and 16 posters. The invited speakers were Jorge Pisonero from Oviedo University in Spain, Gerado Gamez from the University of Texas, USA, and Yutaka Hayashibe from Mitsubishi Metals, Japan.
