Organised by the European Working Group for Glow Discharge Spectroscopy (EW-GDS) this was the second event actively aimed at an International base of expertise. It was the most successful yet, at least in terms of attendees, with more that eighty delegates from over twenty countries attending.

Invited talks were given by Ken Shimizu from Japan, Rebecca Valledor from Spain and Steven Ray from USA. There were two and a half days of oral presentations plus posters, and abtracts of the work can be seen in the Meeting Booklet by clicking on the link:  Booklet for IGDSS2014

The importance of the meeting was also recognised by a special issue of Journal of Analytical Atomic Spectroscopy (JAAS Vol 29, No 11. Nov 2014, pp1957-2192)

The EW-GDS made the customary award of the Richard Payling Prize to a young scientist, on this occasion to Sohail Mushtaq of London Metropolitan University.
